OUR EXPERTISE

“With the hand there is soul (taksu), so our skill and soul enter the piece we are making.” “With the hand there is soul (taksu), so our skill and soul

Weaving Weaving

Silver and gold weaving has been part of Balinese culture for centuries, evolving in complexity and beauty as techniques traveled along the ancient spice trade routes linking Indonesia, India, and China.

Rooted in this centuries-old tradition, each link in a John Hardy chain is individually shaped, woven, and refined by hand using traditional tools and techniques—an intricate process that can take up to four hours to complete a single inch of chain.

Carving Carving

Based on two-dimensional watercolor sketches, our three-dimensional forms take weeks to create. Using traditional jeweler’s wax, each model is hand-carved in intricate detail before being cast in silver or gold.

Many of our wax carvers come from intergenerational wood and stone carving families—a craft tradition deeply rooted in Balinese culture.
